Cyanotype

To prepare and print cyanotypes.

Preparations

Prepare stock solutions as described below.
(Should be enough to coat approx 10 sheets 8×10“)

Part A

Ferriammoniumcitrate (green), 6 gr
Water (deionized) 25 ml

(store in the dark)

Part B

Potassium Ferricyanide, 2.5 gr
Water (deionized) 25 ml

(store in the dark)

Instructions for use

  1. Prepare solutions as above (store in dark).
  2. Mix equal proportions of part A + B.
    • This work solution in sensitive to light.
    • (Approx 10 drops of A with 10 drops of B is enough to coat 12x12cm)
  3. Coat paper and let dry (in dark).
  4. Make a contact print in UV-ligth, approx 20 min in strong sun (outdoors).
  5. Develop by a rinse in water.
  6. A weak solution of citric acid may help to wash out all iron from the exposed print. Approx 3 tsk citric acid to 1000ml water. Treat for a couple of minutes.
  7. Make a final wash in running water for approx 10 minutes.
